The Comedy Emporium is calling for all class clowns, performers young and old or anyone wanting to challenge themselves to come along and join the local team of improvised comedians this month to join the new workshop program as part of Stretch Festival.

In the spirit of such tv shows as “Thank God You’re Here” Or “Whose Line Is It Anyway” teams compete in improv games, acting out scenes using all their performing skills - acting, singing, playing and everything in between Improvised (or 'improv') comedy is quick-witted, live and very much unscripted. Players are given a scene and some instructions and from there anything can (and usually does) happen.  Witness a showdown of performance skillz - yes with a z, imagination and wit.

Julian Canny, The Comedy Emporium Ring Leader said, “With Improv Comedy teams popping up all around the state The Comedy Emporium Mandurah has decided to launch its own Improv program is aiming to eventually build up to league style performances”

“Think of it like sport… but funnier” Said Mr Canny.

If you’re not quite yet an official grownup, or you’d like to bring someone younger along with you - you’ll get your chance with two groups forming. One which will feature adults and 18 plus content and a under 18’s troupe aimed at students.

Improv comedy can be for anyone. “We want to make sure it's accessible so regardless your skill level come on down and try it out” Said Mr Canny.

The Comedy Emporium will host two Improv shows as part of Stretch Festival on the 12th and 13th of May for its Adults and Youth Troupes.

Workshops will run weekly and cost $10 a session starting on the 13th of April. Both adults and students troupe will meet weekly to teach and rehearse skills leading up to a show at Make Place in the Mandurah CBD.
